Superman: How'z he do that? #3

I don't go to garage sales as often as I used to, primarily because people are selling crap, or at least stuff I'm not looking for.  However, this summer, I've found two families who were selling old comics from the seventies.  At one of these I bought for 20 cents a nice copy of Action Comics #412.  With the featured story of "Secret of the first Metropolis", the comic was so-so.  However, I found a back-up text piece about Superman's powers, abilities, & history to be interesting enough to post.  No author was credited but here is an annotated version of "The Superman Legend" from May, 1972:

"Superman was born on the planet Krypton, a super-sized world revolving around a red sun.  His father was Jor-El, his mother Lara, and he himself was named Kal-El.  When little Kal was about two years old, Jor-El, a brilliant scientist who had long predicted that Krypton would one day explode, saw his prophecy being fulfilled, as quakes began to rend the planet.  He sent his son to Earth in the only space vehicle he had, a model rocket. So, although Jor-El and Lara died with their world, Kal survived.
On Earth, little Kal-El was found and adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent, who named him Clark (Martha's maiden name).  The Kents soon discovered their son's awesome powers, and carefully trained him to use them wisely.  As soon as he was old enough, he began his career as Superboy, hiding his identity behind the spectacles of meek, mild Clark Joseph Kent (his middle name coming from his co-creator, Joe Shuster).
