Many folks have Thanksgiving memories of parades & football. For me however, apart from shoveling turkey down my gullet, giant monster movies stand out in my mind as a staple of many childhood turkey days. Local Tri-state TV station Channel 9 usually kicked off the festivities right after the Macy's Parade with a showing of King Kong. After that massive simian affair, two more films followed in rapid succession: the lame Son of Kong and the great Mighty Joe Young. If you were really lucky, Channel 9 would then launch into a marathon of Godzilla films featuring favorites like Godzilla vs. Megalon and Godzilla vs. The Cosmic Monster (aka Godzilla vs. The Bionic Monster aka Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla.). Some years you'd get stuck with lame crap though and end up watching a Buck Rogers marathon. The high-point of those were space-hottie Erin Grey and the little robot that said "Bitty-Bitty-Bitty" all the time. Now, let's see what some of our favorite monsters of yore are enjoying as the 2011 holiday season begins . .
