Arthur P. Jacobs

Searching for a film concept that evoked the same reaction & thrills as RKO's King Kong, agent/producer Arthur P. Jacobs found it in Pierre Boulle's novel, Les Planete des Singes. Jacobs worked methodically for years in order to get the film made, but repeatedly met with failure. He was told again & again by studio executives that no audience would take a film about talking apes seriously. However, due to his tenacity, Jacobs got his film made. As a result, he not only transformed the genre of science fiction, but revolutionized the business of film merchandising, taking both to a whole new level . . .
