. . Superman!
Despite the conjecture of highbrow naysayers, Superman is one of the greatest fictional characters born of American culture. Often maligned and confused as a symbol of American militarism, Superman is emblematic of this country's strength and hope. His story of a newborn infant coming to America not from another country, but another planet, continues to inspire generationally. He serves as a symbol for truth and justice to people in every walk of life. The origin tale of the last son of Krypton is one of the greatest immigrant stories ever written; real or imaginary.
